I normally try to stay pretty positive about my weight loss journey, and last week I was on top of it. I worked out even when I didn't feel like it. I made a journey to the store to buy HEALTHY food options, not just for me but my kids too. But when I got on the scale this morning I almost cried. Instead of loosing weight from all my hard work this past week, I've gained.
Now I can tell you 110% that I have been COMPLETELY honest in my Journal on the Mamavation forum. I have logged EVERYTHING I ate, logged all the exercises I did (or even the lack thereof), and right now I am just feeling discouraged. I didn't expect big #'s like I did when I first started, because I went cold turkey on sugar and pop and I know that's where my big #'s came from - this time I wanted to reduce sugar and pop a little at a time, so I didn't go back to it like I did after my first 2 week challenge..., I figured I would at least drop a pound or two..,but to GAIN? Granted it was just a pound, but a POUND IS A POUND!
I will continue on this week - tweak my food intake, do more work out's, drink more water.., I will continue on and try not to let this get me down. It's a marathon not a sprint, right???

I know it's hard to see the scale when the numbers aren't moving the way you want them to. Keep up the good work. I know you can do it!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to see the numbers go up, but it could be anything (water weight, muscle, etc). I would encourage you to take measurements like we do with the challenge. Sometimes those numbers go down before the scale does. Also, sometimes I say screw the scale. If my clothes are fitting better then that's good enough for me :)
ReplyDeleteAre you measuring yourself? If not, do it! I bet you are losing inches. During my campaign, I only lost 9 lbs but I lost 20.5 inches!!! We talked about this but that pound could be anything and I bet everything you did this week is going to reflect next week. Don't give up hope, darling!! Love you!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, girl! I have two weeks every month (due to hormone fluctuations) where I gain or maintain. Yes, it's frustrating. But when you KNOW you are doing the right things, the results WILL come! Keep your chin up!
ReplyDeleteHang in there! I like Andrea's idea of measuring too!
ReplyDeleteHugs, it is a really good idea to have more than 1 way to measure your progress. Either by the way your clothes fit, a measuring tape, or even how easy your workouts are becoming.
ReplyDeleteI completely understand how you feel. I knew that I had gained this past week so I didn't even bother to see what the bad news was. I love your attitude about moving forward. Yes, you are right this is a marathon and you have got this. :)
ReplyDeletehugs. you're doing great. keep your head up high. keep moving foward. hope you have a great week
ReplyDeleteOh hun I feel for you , I just my past two weeks have been in the wrong direction. The best advice I received was to look for success in other ways; measuring, clothes fitting loosely. things like that. You are doing so well. Keep up all your effort, it will pay off.
ReplyDeleteIt felt better making those good choices didn't it? Hugs..
Just remember, the number does not define you! You've been making an awesome effort and YES it is a marathon and not a sprint! You are doing a great job!
ReplyDeleteYou've been doing great! Don't be discouraged my the numbers on the scale!! Keep up the good work :)
ReplyDelete(1) Yes, it can be discouraging. It's ok to feel that
ReplyDelete(2) the scale is only ONE thing to focus on - and unfortunately its one that can be a fickle fickle b*+@h.
(3) Remember to focus on other areas of your journey - if you are eating the way you should and exercising, that's all you can control
(4) there are a million reasons why you might see a gain - water weight - (you could be building muscle which hangs on to water like it's about to trek through the desert), you could be eating too much sodium which can also leave you retaining, heck, it might even be planetary alignment... bottom line, focus on the things you CAN control and the rest will fall into place.
BIG HUGS!
